Biography

Dr. Mahwish Khurram graduated from King Edward Medical University, one of the top ranked medical universities in Pakistan in 2010. During her internship years in Pakistan, she gathered work experience in various medical and surgical fields which included ophthalmology, internal medicine, neurosurgery and plastic surgery. In 2013, Dr. Khurram expanded her knowledge base in the field of Cardiology through several externships at Heart and Vascular institute (Detroit, MI), University of Maryland St Joseph’s Medical Center, GBMC, and Franklin Square (Baltimore, MD) under the supervision of great mentors as well as an externship in internal medicine alongside of the hospitalist director of Franklin Square medical center. In 2018, Dr. Khurram completed her residency program in Internal Medicine as a chief resident from University of Maryland Capital Regional Hospital (Cheverly, MD) and graduated with the “Best Resident Award” among other fine achievements during her residency. After graduation, Dr. Khurram joined the medical staff as a hospitalist at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center affiliated with University of Maryland where she worked for 4 years and then joined Howard County General Hospital affiliated with Johns Hopkins University as a hospitalist caring for urgent to emergent patients. With her current experience in hospital medicine and while she continues her privileges at her current hospital, she is now extending her compassionate care to the field of primary care to participate in preventative care services to be able to avoid hospitalization of the community, build long term relationships with her patients and all in all help the community through various aspects of patient care. She aims to provide meticulous and thorough care to her patients by being a good listener to learn her patients before implementing her medical knowledge to help her patients achieve the best health possible.
